Terms of Use

Last updated: September 07, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of chestersindia.com (the "Site") and any related services offered by Chester's, including our Retail collections, Custom program, Contract & Trade services, and Restoration services (collectively, the "Services"). By accessing or using the Site, browsing our collections, placing an order, or otherwise communicating with us regarding the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use or access the Site.

These Terms should be read alongside our Privacy Policy. In case of conflict between these Terms and a signed order confirmation, quotation, or trade agreement, the specific document governing that transaction will prevail.

About Chester's

Chester's ("we," "us," or "our") is a furniture house founded in 1986 in Bangalore, producing Chesterfield and European-inspired furniture designed, upholstered, and finished in-house at our own workshops in Peenya, Bangalore. "You" means any visitor, customer, or user of the Site or our Services.

You must be at least 18 years of age, or accessing the Site under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian, to place an order with us. By placing an order, you confirm that you have the legal authority to do so, including authority to enter into contracts on behalf of any firm, studio, or company you represent.

Our products, craftsmanship & natural variation

Every Chester's piece is handmade in our own workshops, from steam beech and Canadian pine frames to hand-dyed leather finishes and deep-buttoned upholstery. Because of this:

  • Material variation is expected, not a defect. Leather hides, timber grain, and hand-applied dyes are natural materials; grain, marking, and tonal variation between pieces, and even within a single piece, is part of their character and is not grounds for return unless it falls outside the range of variation typical of the material and finish specified at order.
  • Product imagery is indicative. Photography, catalogue renders, and on-screen colour may differ slightly from the finished piece due to lighting, screen calibration, and the handmade nature of each item.
  • Specifications may evolve. We continually refine our construction techniques and may update frame, filling, or finishing specifications without notice, provided the overall quality and design intent of the piece is maintained.

Orders, pricing & payment

Prices displayed on the Site are in Indian Rupees (INR) and are exclusive of GST and any other applicable taxes unless stated otherwise; GST will be charged separately at the applicable rate at the time of invoicing. Prices, availability, and lead times are subject to change without notice. We reserve the right to correct any pricing or typographical error, including on an order already placed, before dispatch, in which case we will contact you with the option to proceed at the corrected price or cancel your order for a full refund.

An order is confirmed only once we have received the applicable payment or deposit and issued a written or system-generated order confirmation. Payment methods and any instalment or deposit structure will be communicated to you at the point of order, whether through the Site, a showroom, or your trade sales manager.

Custom, bespoke & contract orders

Alongside our Retail collections available for near-term dispatch, Chester's offers Custom orders, pieces from our wider collections with adapted specifications, quoted individually, and Contract & bespoke orders for architects, interior designers, hoteliers, developers, and institutional clients, typically developed collaboratively and confirmed through shop drawings or specification sheets. For Custom and Contract orders:

  • Quoted lead times are estimates and may vary due to the handmade nature of the work, material availability, or the scope of customisation involved.
  • Where shop drawings or specification sheets are provided for sign-off, your written approval confirms the order specification. Changes requested after sign-off may affect price and lead time.
  • Deposits paid on Custom and Contract orders are generally non-refundable once production has commenced, given the bespoke and non-resaleable nature of the piece, except where required by law or agreed otherwise in writing.
  • Any order-specific terms set out in a signed quotation, purchase order, or trade agreement will take precedence over this section in case of conflict.

Shipping, delivery & installation

Delivery timelines communicated at the time of order are estimates and may be affected by production schedules, location, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control. Please inspect your piece at the time of delivery and note any visible transit damage on the delivery documentation before signing. Ensuring reasonable access for delivery, including doorways, lift dimensions, stairwells, and site readiness for large or bespoke pieces, is your responsibility. Please share access details in advance so we can plan delivery and, where applicable, installation appropriately.

Force majeure

Given the handmade nature of our furniture, production and delivery timelines may be affected by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, fire, strikes or labour disputes, shortages of raw materials such as timber, leather, or hardware, power or supply-chain disruptions, epidemics or pandemics, government action or restrictions, or transport disruptions. We will not be liable for any delay or failure to perform our obligations arising from such events, and will make reasonable efforts to notify you and share a revised estimated timeline. Where such an event continues for an extended period, either party may cancel the affected order, in which case any payments received for the undelivered portion will be refunded.

Returns, exchanges & warranty

Our Retail collection purchases are eligible for return or exchange in accordance with our Returns & Exchange Policy. Given their made-to-order nature, Custom, Contract, and bespoke pieces are generally not eligible for return or exchange once production has commenced, except in the case of a manufacturing defect.

Chester's furniture is built to be repaired and restored rather than replaced, and we stand behind the structural integrity of our frames and craftsmanship. Our warranty covers manufacturing defects in frame construction and upholstery workmanship for the period specified on your invoice, and does not cover normal wear or patina that develops with age and use, natural material variation as described above, damage from misuse or exposure to sunlight or moisture, or repairs carried out by anyone other than Chester's or a technician we've authorised.

Restoration & repair services

We offer restoration and refurbishment for existing Chester's pieces, regardless of age. Restoration work is a separate service from your original purchase warranty, is quoted and scoped individually based on an inspection of the piece, and is subject to its own terms communicated at the time of booking.

Trade program

Our Trade Program is available to interior designers, architects, hoteliers, and institutional partners working on client or project-based commissions. Participation in the Trade Program, including trade pricing, sample terms, and project timelines, is governed by the specific arrangement agreed with our trade sales team, in addition to these Terms.

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law. You agree to indemnify and hold Chester's, its directors, employees, and craftspeople harmless from any claim arising from your misuse of the Site or breach of these Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Site or Services will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Bengaluru, Karnataka.

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, Services, or applicable law. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
